— Who I work With —
Therapy is not about getting “fixed”, it is a safe opportunity to explore the way you view the world.
In therapy, we will work together to make meaningful changes through a strength based approach, using a variety of methods to identify counterproductive patterns and address maladaptive behaviors. Over the course of treatment, these patterns are looked at and replaced with new strategies and skills to better serve you.
Anxiety
About 40 million U.S. citizen’s struggle with Anxiety. We all have common life stressors but sometimes they can become too much and that can impact our daily lives. People who struggle with anxiety often find themselves having trouble slowing down their racing thoughts, over-thinking, or avoiding once enjoyed activities. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques are evidence based tools I utilize to help client’s combat anxiety.
Depression
Depression is often paired with feelings of sadness, hopelessness, fatigue and emptiness. People who struggle with depression find themselves having just enough energy to get the basics done, isolate from friends and family, and feel down on themselves. Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques are a few of the evidence based tools I utilize to help client’s learn to cope with depression.
Fertility, Perinatal, Postpartum Issues
The process of conceiving a baby, pregnancy and postpartum are all exciting but they can also be challenging and emotionally strenuous. 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men suffer from perinatal mood disorders. Whether you’ve been having difficulty conceiving, have suffered a miscarriage(s), struggled with a difficult pregnancy, or felt overwhelmed by the fact that you now have this little (and very needy) baby to take care of, I want you to know that you are not alone. There is help. Motherhood, in general, is one of the largest transitions in life. Even if you had a “wonderful” pregnancy, many women suffer from postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. Marriages often suffer after bringing a baby and subsequently more children into the family. We live in a society that values individualism, however, we need a support system when raising children. Help can be very difficult to accept during this season in your life. I will walk along side you with evidence based treatment to support you and your family on this journey.
Relationship Issues
Whether you have been married for 20 years or are thinking of starting to date, I love to help client’s explore and build healthy tools to make meaningful relationships. Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are the evidence based tools I use to help with this.
Self Esteem Issues
We all have that voice inside our heads that is typically very critical. This is called our “inner voice”. I will help you learn tools to counter those negative thoughts with compassionate thoughts so you can start building a healthier relationship with yourself.
Executive Functioning Skills
Struggling with keeping your High School grades up or staying motivated at work? I help students 16 years and older on organizational skills, self-monitoring, initiating tasks and staying focused on them.
Life Transitions
Heading to college, leaving college, starting a new career, getting married, getting divorced, and moving are just some of the many transitions people go through. These transitions can really shake up your world and trigger strong emotional responses.
